I suggest you contact Acer or the customer service of the company that you bought your laptop from and ask them to do something similar. I didn't even need to send my laptop back, Dell were able to take control of my laptop remotely and it only took about an hour in total.
Hopefully your provider will be able to offer a similar service. You may even be able to do this yourself if you can figure out which touchpad driver you need and look on the Acer/laptop maker website support and look at updates for drivers or downloads or something similar. I have the CD for another computer but it won't recognise this CD in the computer having the problems. I can't take the computer apart.
