I am just getting into pcs again and I have just inherited one of these machines: I am planning on using it as a media centre PC in my TV setup. But I'm struggling to get the audio playing through the built in display port. I have a display port to HDMI cable plugged into a Denon AV receiver from the PC, the display works perfectly but no audio comes through my receiver. I am starting to think it's not possible after updating drivers etc.
Still no way I can see for audio. Would a dedicated graphics card be able to send audio and video or is there another way anyone can think of? Any suggestions would be appreciated as I'm out of ideas and rusty as hell with computers so may be missing something really obvious. I don't mind spending a little bit on it but also don't want to be wasting my time! Thanks very much! No luck unfortunately. Still no other option for sound through anything but the front speaker in the audio options.
I have read conflicting articles and help sheets regarding using passive or active adaptors so i am thinking of trying an active one to see if that works. Although i am a bit on the fence in-case i just spend the money for nothing! If only it had just worked. This little thing is perfect for what i need.

Pretty sure we were using this HP computer with dual screens, one in the VGA and another in the DP port for connectivity. Recently ran some updates for Windows 10 on this machine and now the system only works if one monitor is connected. If both are connected then both displays go blank. Any suggestions on why this may be happening?
Booting up you actually do see both screens used, but as soon as it gets into Windows it's only one screen at a time then. Pretty weird considering you see the Windows spinning dots during bootup on both screens. I've tried uninstalling the video drivers and re-installing, but no dice. I have experienced identical issue. The cause was that the updated graphics driver has not supported dual screens. The resolution was to revert to the previous graphics driver and to disable automatic update of drivers in Windows 10. For other graphics cards go to manufacturer's support page or search. Recommendation: Windows 10 especially on older computers doesn't often install correct chipset and other essential drivers automatically. You need to replace Windows generic drivers manually with the proper ones to increase system stability, reliability and performance.
Read please this post. I would also install, update BIOS and disable in BIOS unused features and devices. ENMok wrote: so I took a look at the driver version and it's dated 3/11/2013 at version 8. Intel's driver update utility doesn't see anything newer for this and I can't seem to find anything older than this. I did come across posts that the Q45/Q43 chipset is quite old and that Intel stopped giving any sort of updates for this.
